Chris Coward is a founder of the Center for Information & Society which he helped establish in 1999 under its previous name, Center for Internet Studies. He currently directs the Center’s ICT and development (ICTD) research portfolio. Chris devotes much of his effort to expanding the Center’s activities, and especially enjoys designing research programs with organizations at the forefront of bringing the benefits of ICT to underserved communities. Today this program has grown to encompass research in over 40 countries. Chris’s own research focuses on examining the social and economic impacts of ICT, an area he examines in community centers and libraries around the world. He is a strong advocate for greater developing world university based research in the ICTD field. Chris holds a Master of Public Administration (MPA) and a Master of Arts in International Studies (MAIS), both from the University of Washington.
